Travel information

Reaching Ooty:

Ooty also known as Udagamandalam, headquarter of Nilgiris district, is located in Tamil Nadu, South India. It  is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. During first half of June, the weather is pleasant  and the temperature is about 13-21oC. However, participants are advised to bring warm clothes.

By Air:
Via Coimbatore
The nearest airport is Coimbatore (CJB) (https://www.coimbatoreairport.com), which is nearly 100 km from Ooty and it takes about 3 hours by road. Coimbatore airport is served by five Indian and three foreign carriers providing direct connectivity to 12 domestic (Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, etc.,) and 3 International destinations (Sharjah, Singapore, Colombo).

Via Bengaluru(Bangalore)
One can reach Ooty by road from Bangalore airport (http://www.bengaluruairport.com) which is nearly 310 kms and it takes about 9 hours. Bangalore airport is connected to 82 destinations including 25 international cities (Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Singapore etc.).

By Train:

Via Coimbatore
The nearest major railway station is Coimbatore, which is nearly 90 kms from Ooty. Coimbatore is well connected to the rest of the country by railways. On reaching Coimbatore, one can take an auto to the Ooty bus stand, which is situated on the Mettupalayam Road (auto should cost around INR 70) from where buses ply to Ooty. The journey takes around three and a half hours. The frequency of the buses during day time is around 20 minutes.

Via Bangalore
One can reach Ooty by road from Bangalore which is at a distance of 290 km. It takes around 10 hours by bus. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu state buses ply from Majestic Bus stand in Bangalore to Ooty.
